Freddie Rokem è Emanuel Herzikowitz Professor for 19th and 20th Century Art e insegna presso il dipartimento di Studi teatrali dell’Università di Tel Aviv. Ha insegnato inoltre nelle Università di Monaco, Stoccolma, Helsinki, alla Freie Universität di Berlino, e negli Stati Uniti a UC Berkeley, Stanford e UC Davis. Il suo Performing History: Theatrical Representations of the Past in Contemporary Theatre (University of Iowa Press, 2000; tradotto in polacco e tedesco) ha ricevuto l’ATHE (Association for Theatre in Higher Education) Prize come miglior libro di studi teatrali del 2001. Tra i suoi testi recenti Strindberg’s Secret Codes (Norvik Press, 2004) e, con Jeanette Malkin, Jews and the Making of Modern German Theatre (University of Iowa Press, 2010).
