Abstract

In this paper I will ask the following question: does the structure of the physical world influence that of the knowledge? Usually, we say that human knowledge and non human knowledge are influenced by the physical structure of the living-beings, in particular by the physiological apparatus used to know the world. In this paper we uphold this thesis, but we add that knowledge is also influenced by the structure of the physical world: the way in which the world is made determines the structure of knowledge. Referring to human knowledge we introduce the notion of noogram which is defined as a mental structure that leads any kind of mental operation included those related to the knowledge of the physical world. So, in order to understand the way in which human knowledge is formed we must analyse human mental apparatus as well as the structure of the world.
