Abstract

The development of the virtual environment and its relationship with the other kind of environments demands a theoretical and critical investigation on the virtual reality in order to investigate its relevance on an ontological level. The aim of this contribution is thus to critically think on the virtual reality on the basis of the Pierre Levy’s analysis, in particular for what concerns the ontological and hermeneutical definition of the “ontological quadrivium”: nearby the “possible”, the “real” and the “actual” the category of the “virtual” describes the inner dynamism of life and then of the humanization and of the civilization.
