This essay aims to investigate the way Emanuele Severino, in the book The Glory (La Gloria), addresses the issue of infinity. In this volume, the Italian philosopher deals with a philosophical problem that has two sides strictly connected to each other: on the one hand, the relation with the Glory; on the other hand, the relation with the Joy (“Gioia”). Starting from the Severinian approach, and with regard to what it appears – namely, what could be seen into the world –, it seems that as well as what it ends cannot really end, what it begins cannot actually begin. For this reason, what Severino should deal with is the difficulty related to a development (like the one of the Glory) in which nothing properly develops, that is, an aporia that should lead him to question a different sense of negation, the same negation that his own reflection prevents him from recognizing.
