Abstract

Why to speak about populisms today? Is it because we assist, in every corner of Europe, a disturbing revival of the populism and the nationalisms of all kinds? Or because our democracies run out in a debate on the question of the identities which threaten the liberties to think and to act? The question of the populism, as far as it is central in politics, should not lead to forget us our philosopher’s responsibility. Europe of populisms is not a simple formula about which we can talk serenely. The spectre of Europe ravaged by diverse forms of populisms is not so far. Our old Europe needs hope, promises, moves towards a future which it does not know yet but which it welcomes with gratitude and hospitality.
