Abstract

Immanence, causa sui, is the datum from which the political form moves, but it is denied for a long time. The logic of representation, which identifies the being-in-common, involves the alienation of each one in an incessant transcendence. The paper runs the genealogy of dependence on the sacer, till the modernity that, in politics, sets the terms of a conscious immanence, opening spaces of transcendence to an internal and yet external law. Then it focuses on the new political immanence: a scientist system that coexists with the mistrust towards Truth and Authority and with a pragmatic and aesthetic sensitivity for differences, self-regulated by immanent biopower. Reluctance to recognize other authority but expertise coexists with immanent forms of regulation on the market calque and new unstable and partial subjectifications. The circle of transcendence in immanence re-presents itself.
