Abstract

In this paper Stefan Zweig’s “cosmopolitan” view is pursued on the basis of the “conciliatory” inclination in his most representative essays on politics and current affairs, with the aim to highlight its political and moral aspects. The term “Konzilianz” is very present in the work of Stefan Zweig. It represents for him a real Weltanschauung dealing with a precise dialectic tendency that can be traced back to the great humanistic tradition of “reductio ad unum” which is nonetheless resolved in an oscillation between idealism, resignation and utopia.
