Abstract

Historiographic reconstruction and critical analysis of the relationship between Luigi Pareyson’s thought (1918-1991) and “metaphysics”, in the various phases of his thought. The author punctually analyzes in all Pareyson’s writings how the existentialist thinker always rejected metaphysics understood as absolute rationalism and objectification of being. Instead, he positively assumed metaphysics understood in a critical sense and he deepened it as ontology: personalistic ontology or ontological personalism, ontology of inexhaustible truth or theory of interpretation, ontology of human freedom and of original liberty or hermeneutics of Christian religious experience.
